Haupt Family Adaptation of “The Piano Man”

Posted on Mar 21, 2015 by in Family | 1 comment

It’s six o clock on a Friday night

All of the family is here

There’s a toddler coming towards me

On her face is a smear.

Ben says, Mom can you play me Monopoly?

I know that it’s a really long game,

But I want Boardwalk and I’m willing to talk,

If you think you might want to trade.

Sing us a song you’re the piano man

Sing us a song tonight

We’re all in the mood for a melody

And you’ve got us feeling alright

Now Isaac is three and enormous

He’d eat five meals every day,

He’s sweet with his eyes and soft for his size,

But he’s got a snackable way.

He says, Mom, I believe you are starving me

I really need something to eat,

The sandwich for lunch was yummy to munch,

But I think that I must have a treat.

Now Abby is practicing curl-ups,

While Susanna shreds up some trash,

And they both giggle loud and they’re shy in crowd,

But they’d give you the shirt off their back.IMG_3075

Sing us a song you’re the piano man

Sing us a song tonight

we’re all in the mood for a melody

And you’ve got us feeling alright

It’s a pretty good deal for a Friday night

And the husband gives me a smile

‘Cause he knows that it’s me who bought pizza to eat

And a movie to watch for a while.

And the piano, it drowns out the whining

As the bedtime slowly draws near,

And they sit on the couch with a comfortable slouch,

And say, Mom when will Grandma come here?”
